Day 52

Most of the top floor has now been done...

And the blockwork has been finished as well.

Once the blockwork is waterproofed, the rest of the floor can go on

An access hatch has to be cut into the study base for ventilation/future inspections.  Lucky we didn't hide anything in here.

The architect drew this wall a really dark grey compared to the other (not as) dark grey feature colour for the rest of the house.  Still deciding whether we do that or not.  At this stage we will.

Looks like a comfy home for a stationary car

Kitchen will be on the left and the deck will be through the sliding door

Looking out to what will be the deck

Charlotte is sizing up the dive from the kitchen window into the pool.

At this stage John thinks he is going to build the deck on the ground and crane it up.   Might try to get the day off work for that one...

Didn't really realize how much the kitchen would stick out towards the pool.

Day 44

The bottom floor frame has now been completed.  Most of the floor joists for the top floor are now on, ready for the next level to be started next week.

Block work for the study has now been completed.  Still a bit left to go around the garage however.

Water tank has been swapped

Day 38

The slab for the bottom floor patio and around the pool has now been completed.  We also have some more foundations done for a retaining wall on the topside of the flat pool area.  Builder is now ready to start cutting timber and hammering nails (to his and our delight).

New slab goes from outside store room and laundry, around pool and into bottom patio

Shows the slab outside store room and laundry

Charlotte checking the levels

We will have a lawn where the photo was taken from

Pool pipes not that deep here, wonder how many years it will take for me to forget they are there and put a shovel through them?

Looking back towards the store room.  New retaining wall will be built on the right (you can see the foundations and reinforcement)

Looking back into the bottom floor patio

I reckon we just fill it up now and swim

Back patio... brackets are for the deck posts.

A fair bit of block work to go in this area yet with the study and retaining wall, but should all be done by next week

Water tank has been delivered.  Not quite the one we ordered, so might be going back unless John can move some pipes around to suit this one.  Colour is what we wanted though.
